During the design of our personal kitchen, we had several essential goals, one of which was to make the island as long as possible. Although this isn't always the case in kitchen design, we wanted the island to accommodate as much seating as possible. We chose to place the sink on the main wall instead of the island to give the island as much functional space as possible for things besides cooking or washing dishes. Our aim was to create a space where the kids could do homework, host family game nights, and provide plenty of seating for when family and friends visit.

Prior to renovating the kitchen, a significant problem we faced was storage. In our new kitchen, we aimed to minimize items on the countertops. We decided against having a kitchen table and a conventional seating area, opting instead to extend the kitchen along the entire length of the space. To maximize storage, we installed three pantries, which also helped reduce countertop clutter. This has proven to work well for us, creating a space where the children feel welcome to hang out with us, have space to spread out, charge their electronics, and just relax in a no-pressure spacious environment, one of them even making it their own with this year's fantasy football trophy.
